Ametz Kita (Adopt a Class) gives one class a year with the park or reserve beside their town. Students learn it with Israel Nature and Parks Authority instructors, then take care of it.
The class next door
For a student in the geographic or socioeconomic periphery, in a conflict zone, or in an Arab, Bedouin, or Druze community, the nature reserve or national park next door can feel out of reach. Ametz Kita (Adopt a Class) is a year-long program of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. The class adopts that neighboring place and becomes responsible for it.
The year
Authority instructors come into the classroom and teach the ecology and heritage of the students' own region. The class then goes into the park, and that teaching becomes time on the ground. By the end of the year they are Young Nature Guards: rehabilitating trails, removing invasive plants, and protecting local biodiversity. The year includes Bedouin desert traditions and Druze mountain ecology, so conservation is shared with the community the students come from.
What lasts
Students leave with a tie to the landscape they already live in, desert in the south or highlands in the north, and a stake in keeping Israel's nature and heritage intact.
Ways to give
In 2026–2027 the classes still to be opened are in Arab, Bedouin, and Druze communities. You can give one student's place, or sponsor a whole class. A gift pays for transportation, instruction, and the days in the park. The gift is to American Friends of INHF Inc., which is separate from the Authority. Our board reviews it and decides the grant. The classes run in Israel with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
- $100 — one student's place in a periphery class. The whole class is $2,700; gifts of this size are pooled until that class is covered.
- $2,700 — a periphery class in the Gaza envelope.
- $5,000 — a Bedouin community class in Bir Hadaj, Kseife, Hura, Abu Talul, and Abu Krinat.
- $13,500 — a Druze community class in Daliyat al-Karmel, Isfiya, Majdal Shams, Mas'ada, Beit Jann, and Hurfeish.
